With the lunch tab picked up by the Quality Council, MACQ Corporate and Individual Members were given the "once over" by Council President Matt Chmielewski at the September 16, 2008, Annual Corporate Meeting. Of MACQ's 23 member Board, seven director seats were up for grabs and in a tough election all 7 incumbents were re-elected to three year terms. Board officers for 2008-09 include: Chmielewski, President; Amy Ites, Vice President; Kristi Powers, Secretary; Gloria Zachow, Treasurer; and David Cowan, Historian.
Presenters from Lifeworks like Frederick Urch (pictured above), Vice President of Sales and Marketing, provided those at lunch with an overview of Lifeworks Services, Inc., and how serving people with disabilities translates into viable jobs, satisfied client businesses, and quality products and services. It's all about work and how it triggers a sense of accomplishment for the disabled worker, expands that worker's social contacts, and enhances their quality of life. 290 businesses rely on Lifeworks and its dependable workers earned over $4 million in wages last year. The nonprofit corporation Lifeworks has several program locations across Minnesota including one here in Mankato. Lifeworks Services, Inc. Website
The Quality Council invites area businesses and organizations to make brief presentations each month right after MACQ's regular Board meeting. This Round Table is open to the public and those present must pay for their own meal. This Lunch Bunch convenes at the Holiday Inn immediately following the regular monthly Board meeting which starts at 11:30 A.M. Depending on how windy the Board is, the secret presenter may start talking at 12 noon or 12:15 PM.
